# NanoArc multidisciplinary lab — chemistry equipment inventory **Inventory date:** 2026-08-14 **Owner:** Tristan **Scope:** Chemistry, PCM/materials preparation, electrochemistry, and supporting measurements. The separately maintained electrical-equipment inventory is not duplicated here. ## Heating and temperature - One SH-2 magnetic stirrer/heater, confirmed as the existing hotplate. It heats and magnetically stirs; temperature-control accuracy, overshoot, and water-bath coupling remain to be characterized. - One PTFE-coated magnetic stir bar. - One DMM capable of reading its supplied exposed-junction thermocouple probe. - Spare PTFE 3D-printer tubing proposed as an interim liquid-isolation sheath for the thermocouple. The arrangement requires leak, response-time, and positioning tests before use. - One BIOS 1-inch dial Celsius thermometer, range -18 to 110 °C. Immersion limits, accuracy, and webcam readability remain to be verified. ## Mass and volume - One operational digital pocket scale: 200 g capacity, 0.01 g displayed resolution, and tare function. No check masses are currently owned and its accuracy has not been independently verified. - One 25 mL borosilicate graduated cylinder. - One 250 mL borosilicate graduated cylinder. - Ten disposable 1 mL transfer pipettes. These are not treated as calibrated volumetric pipettes. ## Glassware and handling - One 250 mL borosilicate beaker. - One 600 mL borosilicate beaker. - One 250 mL borosilicate Erlenmeyer flask. - Six rimmed borosilicate test tubes, 20 x 150 mm. - One aluminium test-tube rack confirmed to accept the supplied 20 mm tubes despite an advertised 15 mm specification. - Ten 70 mm watch glasses. - One borosilicate stirring rod, 7 x 300 mm. - Six borosilicate stirring rods, 5 x 150 mm. - One metal/wood test-tube clamp. - One 75 mm plastic funnel. - One transparent 500 mL PE wash bottle. - Assorted Mason jars and miscellaneous containers. Quantities, materials, capacities, lid materials, and prior contents are not fully catalogued. Treat these as ambient-pressure containers only; do not assume they are borosilicate, hotplate-safe, chemically compatible, or pressure-rated. ## Indication, PPE, containment, and emergency provisions - Eighty universal pH-paper strips, indicated range pH 1-14. These support coarse screening rather than calibrated pH measurement. - One pair of ordinary safety glasses. - Indirect-vent chemical-splash goggles. - Routine nitrile gloves. - Compatible plastic secondary-containment tray. - Small eyewash bottle for immediate initial flushing. Sustained running water is available at a household sink/shower less than 30 seconds from the alternate bench; the travel route must be cleared before wet work. - Fire extinguisher and heat-safe work surface near the alternate bench. - Coffee filters and ordinary low-risk expendables. Not presently recorded as owned: chemical-resistant apron, dedicated spill bundle, retort stand, fixed thermometer/probe clamp, water-bath vessel restraint, scale check masses, milligram balance, calibrated pH meter, or certified local exhaust. ## Workspace disposition - Perform heated or open wet chemistry at the alternate bench beside the openable exterior window. - Reserve the mixed-use desk containing the Ender 5 for dry planning, instruments, and closed-container weighing. Do not expose the printer, filament, mechanics, or mains equipment to liquids, salts, steam, or reagent residue. - Keep the room HEPA purifier outside the steam and splash path. It is useful for particles and wildfire smoke, not accepted as chemical-vapour extraction or a fume hood. - Reagents and retained liquids currently share one general storage area. Compatibility segregation and complete labels are pending. ## Current capability limits - The owned apparatus supports small-batch SAT preparation rehearsals, qualitative crystallization, agar/hydrogel screening, benign crystal growth, and coarse pH checks after the applicable protocol preflights pass. - The 0.01 g scale supports formulation screening but cannot defend the formal 0.010 g PCM-cell leakage boundary. - The DMM probe and dial thermometer require a common ice/hot-water comparison before quantitative thermal work. - Disposable transfer pipettes and graduated cylinders do not substitute for calibrated volumetric apparatus. - No volatile-solvent, toxic-gas, concentrated-corrosive, or unknown-mineral processing is authorized by this inventory.
